The brief
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust needed practical patient support materials for people living with xeroderma pigmentosum, a rare genetic condition affecting around 100 people in the UK. This included a UVR dial to help patients measure and understand their UV protection.
The solution
I designed a set of printed materials from scratch, translating medical guidance into practical, everyday resources. The project required careful, sensitive image selection given the nature of the condition. I also designed a physical UVR dial, distributed to each patient, that helped them calculate and visualise their level of UV protection. Both the printed materials and the dial received positive feedback for their real-world value in supporting daily UV protection and skin monitoring.
